Barbara Boyan, Ph.D.
Dr. Boyan is a current Professor and Associate Dean for Research in the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech University. Dr. Boyan’s areas of research are in: Mechanism of action of hormones and growth factors in chondrocytes and osteoblasts, Normal and pathological calcification , Tissue engineering, Response of cells to biomaterials.
She received the Atlanta Woman of the Year award (Science) award in 2005, The Birnberg Research Award, Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, 2003, and The Society for Biomaterials Clemson Award for Contributions to the Literature, 2001.
Dr. Boyan received her Ph.D. in 1975 from Rice University, her M.A. from Rice University in 1974, and her B.A. from Rice as well in 1970.
